Not all users of enterprise resource planning solutions have the same needs and these needs change from time to time. That is why the developers of these solutions release Latest Versions of their erp software to address new user requirements.

Pastel Evolution, South Africa’s “only home grown” ERP solution announced the release of their latest Version Evolution v 6.5. According to the divisional director of Pastel Evolution at Softline “Pastel Evolution is focused on boosting productivity through time saving and efficiency-creating features.”

What is the benefit of erp software Upgrade? There are a lot of benefits in upgrading to a latest software version of your ERP solution like Pastel Evolution, Oracle or Microsoft erp. These are some of the benefits.

Latest Software Upgrades are based on customer input.

“Part of our success is that all our upgrades and new releases are based on customer input-and in the case of Pastel Evolution v 5 we’ve addressed quite specific requests from customers in Evolutions target markets.” Says Mohammed Mosam. This means that a new version of software will most likely tally with user needs, better and improved in terms of meeting user requirements.

Latest Upgrades can Integrate better with other applications.

Upgrading to a latest version of a software makes the system integrate even much better with other new applications on the market. Just like Mosam said. “ With many of our customers moving to Microsoft Vista, for instance, we’ve ensured that Evolution is vista compliant and therefore extends our ERP and Accounting functionality into vistas increased security capabilities.”

Providing timely, relevant financial information is a core responsibility for every Accountant. Clearly, the resources needed to meet this demand will vary. It is practically impossible to achieve this without the very best tools to produce professional and accurate reports with ease without limiting the operational flexibility.

Pastel Evolution Accounting Features

What are the core features of sage Pastel Evolution Accounting? In this article I will take you through the features of the core module of Sage Pastel Evolution Accounting to help you evaluate if its the Accounting Package you need for your Business.

All Accounting systems are designed for a purpose, to store a wealthy of Accounting information related to customers, suppliers, inventory and so on. However, from my experience as an Accountant with various Accounting Software, I have learned that Accounting is not just about capturing numbers but being able to integrate additional data for daily Business operations as well as provide an accurate holistic view of the Business giving you total control of your Business as well as your Finances.

This is not an easy task yet it’s achievable. However, it requires a powerful Business Management reporting tool often referred to as an Accounting Application which can give you the full ability to control your financial situation as well as Relationships with customers, suppliers and employees

In an article about choosing an Accounting Software, I discussed the simple requirements to look out for when making a choice to purchase an Accounts Package and made mention of some of Sage Pastel Accounting Products widely used in Zambia by most Zambian companies including other over 52 countries in the world.

In this article, I want to look at Sage Pastel Evolution Accounting and outline the five good features of this Package.

Pastel Evolution Application has a control centre called the system manager with a system tree making the navigation so easy, which also controls the system environment, set up, online help and multi-level password security.

In addition to the system tree, Pastel Evolution also has standard navigation tools such as menus, tool bars including tools for maintaining, sorting, searching and grouping data. The interface can also be customised to suit each user requirements making the Accounts Software even more user friendly.

The first feature I consider good about Pastel Evolution is that the system uses the latest database technologies using MS-SQL Server or Microsoft’s SQL Express Edition. Therefore the system is able to support unlimited number of users accessing it at the same time.

The second feature is that Pastel Evolution stores data indefinitely, the general ledger stores five years of data and requires no month or year end procedures. However, pastel evolution gives you access to block Accounting periods to prevent transaction processing into closed periods.

Data protection and integrity is indeed a great area of concern for every Accountant and Business owner. With the utilisation of MS-SQL, Pastel Evolution has an improved data protection and integrity ensuring that users have no incomplete entries or corrupt files, even if they suffer a power failure while a transaction is in process.

The fourth feature is that Pastel Evolution supports multiple companies each with its own chart of Accounts such as a holding company and some subsidiaries. Access to individual companies and their related functions are password protected.

Another important feature with Sage Pastel Evolution is the transaction drill-downs. Taking full control of your Business requires that you have the right, accurate and timely information on your finger tips and the drill down functionality allows you to find exactly what you are looking for quickly. From summarised information you can drill-down to detailed transactions and even right down to source documents-with just a click of the mouse.
